Prompted applications

Software from a sentence, safe enough for the shop floor

Every plant has gaps that no vendor builds software for: the board for the night shift, the checklist for a special customer, the small portal for a supplier. AI can build those in minutes. univedo makes sure they can be trusted next to the systems that run the plant.

Why it was hard

Fast to build, impossible to allow

A generated application is a stranger. Nobody knows what data it touches, whether it invents its own copies of orders and tools, or what it does when the model behind it changes its mind. Letting it write to production data is a risk no plant manager takes. So prompted applications stayed demos.

The answer is not a better model. It is a platform that gives the application a place to live, rules to follow, and a gate it has to pass.

The safe path

Five guarantees

1. It builds on the shared picture

The application cannot invent its own version of orders, tools or machines. It works with the same picture of the production that every other application uses, and it can only extend that picture along the rules the platform provides.

2. It grows in its own space

Development happens in a separate space with a live preview and realistic data. You keep prompting until it is right. Nothing touches production while you do.

3. Every step is a version

Each iteration is recorded. You can compare, go back, or branch. When the application later changes, the history shows exactly what changed and why.

4. An expert approves it

Before it may change production data, a person responsible for that part of the production reviews how the application uses the shared picture. The platform prepares that review as a report, so it takes minutes, not days. The approval is sealed together with the application.

5. The platform enforces it

In production, univedo checks the approval on every write. An application without approval may read, but it may not change what keeps the plant running. This rule is enforced by the platform, not by good intentions.

And the AI stays under your control

Every AI call goes through one component you configure. Choose the providers, set limits, or run models on site when data must not leave the plant. The application itself never holds a key to any AI service.

What it looks like

An example from our first end-to-end test

One description produced a complete application with customers, orders, bills of materials and a five-step workflow, running on real production data in a development space. A second person, playing the role of a data-entry clerk, used it and found two defects. One more prompt fixed both. The application was then approved and could be installed like any other.

Good first candidates

Where prompted applications pay off first

  • Shift boards and hand-over notes tied to real orders
  • Tool and material request forms for the shop floor
  • Customer portals showing order status
  • Supplier portals for drawings and delivery dates
  • Inspection checklists with photos and measurements
  • Maintenance logs per machine
  • Small dashboards for one team's questions
  • Data clean-up and migration helpers
