Production-critical machining on univedo

EVOMECS builds software for machining production: planning, tool management, machine connection and automated cells. Its whole suite runs on univedo. It is an example of what the platform handles when the use case is complex and every error reaches the shop floor.

Why this case is demanding

Where a wrong record stops a machine

Machining production is one of the least forgiving environments for integration. That is what makes it a meaningful test for univedo.

Many applications, one truth

More than ten applications, from the ERP link to planning, tool management, presetting, machine connectors, robot cells and dashboards, work on the same orders, tools and machines at the same time.

Processes that end at a machine

An order becomes an NC program, needs measured tools, is set up on a pallet and runs on a machine. Every step belongs to a different application, and each handover has to be right.

Errors cost real money

A wrong tool length or an outdated program does not produce a wrong report. It produces scrap, a damaged spindle or a stopped cell. Data has to be correct at the moment it is used.

Unattended operation

Automated milling and electrode cells run through night shifts without an operator. The platform has to deliver every event, including after a restart.

Every plant is different

Machines, controls, presetters, CAM and ERP systems from many makers, installed on premise at the customer or run in the cloud.

Software keeps changing

The suite evolves continuously while plants keep running. Versioned changes let new releases arrive without breaking what runs on the shop floor.

About EVOMECS

An independent vendor with roots on the shop floor

EVOMECS was founded in 2015 in a family-owned tool, model and mould making shop. The team knows the challenges of machining production from its own experience, and it builds software to make life easier for the people who run it. EVOMECS is independent of machine and system makers: its software integrates machines, systems and processes across brands and locations, a way of working the company calls Fluid Integration.

The company sees its mission in the digitisation of small and mid-sized manufacturers, and describes its suite as an operating system for machining production, available on premise or in the cloud.

What they offer

Four areas, one suite

The suite is made of components and applications that a plant can adopt step by step.

Production planning and control

Synchronise the ERP system, manage and plan production orders, control and monitor production, capture operating data automatically, trace every workpiece, evaluate production data.

Digital tool process

Synchronise CAM systems, consolidate tool databases, measure tools automatically, transfer tool data to the machine, assign tools to storage locations, keep a complete tool history.

Job management on the shop floor

Connect and control CNC machines, set up while the process runs, capture machine data automatically.

Job management for automation

Control milling cells, electrode processes and multi-technology cells from one control system, with global job management.

What running on the platform means for the suite

  • One picture. Planning, tool management, machine connectors, presetting, robot cells, dashboards and the ERP link all work on the same orders, tools and machines. There is no synchronisation between EVOMECS applications, because there is nothing to synchronise.
  • Processes across applications. When planning releases an order, the machine connector, the tool application and the shop floor board learn about it through the platform, in order, without losing a step.
  • Room for others. The shared picture that univedo ships today grew out of the EVOMECS suite and more than a decade of shop-floor experience. Other vendors and prompted applications build on that picture and can be approved to work next to the suite.
  • Sold through the store. EVOMECS sells its suite as four cumulative bundles through the Univedo Store, in the cloud per machine and per month, or as an on-premise licence.
